Spark Plug: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove ignition wires.
2. Loosen spark plugs and remove any dirt or foreign material from spark plug areas of cylinder head with compressed air.
3. Remove spark plugs.

CAUTION: Three unique styles of platinum-enhanced spark plugs are produced. Each style is distinguished by the part number suffix letters. The suffix letter P indicates the center electrode is enhanced with platinum. The suffix letters PG indicate the ground (side) electrode is enhanced with platinum. The suffix letters PP indicate double platinum enhancement on both the ground (side) and center electrode. If any of the spark plugs need to be removed for examination, each spark plug removed must be reinstalled in the same cylinder.
a. Cylinders No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3 have a PG suffix.
b. Cylinders No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6 have a P suffix.
If any spark plug needs to be replaced, use only spark plugs with the service part number suffix letters PP as shown on the engine decal.
