Outboard Front Safety Belts

NOTE: Safety belt BUCKLES, center adjust tongues and belt and retractors can be replaced separately. However if a safety belt assembly was in use during a collision, the belt and retractor must be replaced as well as the center adjust tongue and belt and buckle assembly or the center adjust tongue and the cable and BUCKLE assembly. When replacing safety belt and BUCKLE, safety cable and BUCKLE, center adjust tongues and belt and retractors, use only the replacement parts specified in the Ford Master Parts Catalogs for the make and model of the vehicle being serviced. Safety belt assemblies must not be interchanged between vehicle models.

Removal

Seat Belt Bolt Bit (No.50 Torx(R)) T77L-2100-A

1. Remove D-ring corner from behind D-ring by applying pressure at the lower edge of the cover and pushing inboard.
2. Remove nut and bolt attaching D-ring to adjuster assembly. Remove nut, bolt and D-ring.
3. Lift floor carpet and remove bolt retaining floor anchor to front floor pan.
4. Remove quarter trim panel.
5. Remove the screw retaining the belt loop to the sheet metal (Two-door models only).
6. Remove the bolt retaining the front safety belt retractor and tongue.
7. Remove front safety belt retractor and tongue from the vehicle.

Installation
1. Position front safety belt retractor and tongue to the vehicle and install the retaining bolt. Using Seat Belt Bolt Bit (No.50 Torx(R)) T77L-2100-A, tighten to 30-40 N.m (22-30 lb-ft).
2. Position the belt loop to the vehicle and install the retaining screw (Two-door only).
3. Feed the floor anchor end of the front safety belt retractor and tongue through the quarter trim panel. Install quarter trim panel.
4. Position the floor anchor anti-rotation tab to the front floor pan. Install the bolt and tighten to 30-40 N.m (22-30 lb-ft).
5. Position safety belt D-ring. Install bolt and tighten to 30-40 N.m (22-30 lb-ft).
6. Install front seat shoulder strap guide cover by hooking the upper retaining tab over the top of the belt guide and press both lower corners between the thumb and index finger, to snap lower retaining tabs behind the belt guide.
7. Check the restraint system for proper operation.
