Ball Joint and Arm Assembly, Upper
Removal
1. NOTE: The upper control arm and upper ball joint are serviced as an assembly.
Position the steering wheel and steering system in the on-center position.
2. Raise the vehicle on a frame hoist and position a tall jackstand under the front suspension lower arm.
3. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
4. CAUTION: Before removing the spindle pinch bolt and nut, secure the spindle from tilting.
Remove spindle pinch bolt and nut.
5. Separate the front suspension arm bushing joint from the front wheel hub and spindle.
6. NOTE: The right front suspension arm bushing joint is a two-piece design.
Remove the nuts and cam bolts retaining the front suspension upper arm to the frame and remove the front suspension upper arm from the vehicle.
Installation
1. Install the front suspension upper arm in the frame pockets.
2. Install and tighten the cam bolts and nuts retaining the front suspension upper arm. Tighten to 113-153 Nm (82-112 lb-ft).
3. Connect the front wheel hub and spindle to the front suspension arm bushing joint and install the pinch bolt and nut. Tighten nut to 40-55 Nm (30-41 lb-ft).
4. Remove jackstand from under front suspension lower arm.
5. Install wheel and tire assembly.
6. Lower vehicle and check alignment.
