Diagnostic Instructions

The Automatic Ride Control (ARC) system is a microprocessor-controlled air suspension system. The microprocessor and support hardware are contained in the ARC module.

As in all microprocessor systems, communications must be provided to monitor system operation and to allow diagnosis of any concerns that may develop in the system. System monitoring for the driver's use is provided through the message center. Diagnosis communication for the service technician is provided through the ISO 9141 Data Link Connector (DLC) in the passenger compartment and the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent.

Air suspension system diagnostics consist of the Auto Test (Diagnostic Trouble Code [DTC] display) and the Diagnostic Pinpoint Tests. The Auto Test uses the NGS or equivalent connected to the DLC located on the LH side under the I/P. Refer to How to Service a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) using NGS for more diagnosis and testing information. During the Auto Test, the NGS will command the ARC module to cycle all inputs and outputs within the system.
