Upshift/Downshift
UPSHIFT/DOWNSHIFTNOTES:
Upshifts and downshifts will be firm during this procedure. Pressure gauges may be removed. These tests should be performed on the road. If performed on the hoist, feel at all shifts when they are engaged may not be possible.
LEDs will turn GREEN when solenoids are activated and turn OFF when deactivated. Refer to the appropriate overlay for the proper status shift sequence of the shift solenoids during upshifts and downshifts.
1. Move gearshift selector lever into OVERDRIVE and accelerate to 15mph (24km/h), select second gear by rotating gear selector to second.
- Did vehicle upshift to second gear?
- Did appropriate shift solenoids activate/deactivate?
2. Accelerate to 25mph (40km/h) and select third gear.
- Did vehicle upshift to third gear?
- Did appropriate shift solenoids activate/deactivate?
3. Accelerate to 35-45mph (56-72km/h) and select fourth gear.
- Did vehicle upshift to fourth gear?
- Did appropriate shift solenoids activate/deactivate?
4. Reverse the order to downshift.
- Does vehicle downshift from fourth to third, third to second, and second to first?
- Did appropriate shift solenoids activate/deactivate?
5. Does the transmission pass these tests? If not refer to Diagnosis by Symptom.
