Spark Plug: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Remove ignition wires.
2. Loosen spark plugs and remove any dirt or foreign material from spark plug areas of cylinder head with compressed air.
3. Remove spark plugs and mark location using a piece of masking tape.
NOTE: Three (3) different unique styles of platinum enhanced spark plugs are produced for vehicles with Electronic Ignition (EI). Each style is distinguished by their part number suffix letters.
a. The suffix letter "P" indicates the center electrode is enhanced with platinum.
b. The suffix letters "PG" indicates the ground (side) electrode is enhanced with platinum.
c. The suffix letters "PP" indicates double platinum enhancement on both the ground (side) and center electrode.
If a spark plug is removed for examination, it must be reinstalled in the same cylinder. If a spark plug needs to be replaced, use only spark plugs with the service part number suffix letter "PP" as shown on the engine decal.

INSTALLATION
Spark Plugs And Wire Routing:
1. To install, reverse Removal procedure.
2. Check and adjust spark plugs.
Spark Plug Inspection Chart:
NOTE: Refer to the Spark Plug Inspection Chart to determine the condition of the spark plugs.
3. Tighten spark plugs to 9-20 Nm (7-15 ft lb).
