Parking Brake System: Service and Repair

PARKING BRAKE SIGNAL SWITCH

REMOVAL
1. Pull the parking brake lever boot out of the way by sliding the base of the parking brake lever boot toward the rear of the vehicle and lifting the back of the parking brake lever boot. It should not be necessary to completely remove the parking brake lever boot.
2. Place the parking brake control in the released position and disconnect the wire from the parking brake signal switch and bracket.





3. Remove the screw from the parking brake signal switch and bracket and remove the parking brake signal switch and bracket.

INSTALLATION
1. Position the switch. Make sure the locator tab on the switch is in the locator hole on the parking brake control. Tighten the screw to 1.4-2.3 Nm (12-20 in lb).
2. Install the wire connector to the switch and place the parking brake lever in the released position.
3. Install the boot over the lever and connect the boot retainer.
