Timing Chain: Service and Repair

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Remove timing cover.
2. Remove camshaft bolt and washer from end of camshaft.

3. Remove camshaft position sensor drive gear, camshaft sprocket, crankshaft sprocket and timing chain.
4. Pry back ratchet mechanism, then install pin, to relive tension on timing chain tensioner and remove tensioner.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Ensure balance shaft timing is correct.
b. Do not replace camshaft bolt with a standard bolt.

d. Align timing chain and sprockets by placing No. 1 cylinder at TDC and crankshaft keyway to 12 o'clock position. Ensure timing marks on sprockets are positioned across from each other.
