Heating and Air Conditioning: Description and Operation

Air Conditioning and Heating System, Auxiliary

This system is a recirculating-air type design. The components are located along the left side of the vehicle, behind the driver.

The auxiliary system includes the auxiliary assembly and duct work. The auxiliary assembly houses a blower motor (18527), a heater core (18476) and an A/C evaporator core (19860). It also includes a vacuum-operated function door and a vacuum control motor (18A3 18). These components are served by applicable electrical circuits, heater water hoses (18472), vacuum and refrigerant lines.

A rear seat airflow duct attaches to the bottom of the auxiliary unit; a pillar duct attaches to the top of the unit and feeds air to a junction duct near the C-pillar as well as an overhead duct assembly which is an integral part of the headliner.
