Removal and Replacement

REMOVAL and INSTALLATION

Powertrain Control Module:






1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

NOTE: If the vehicle's battery is disconnected, there may be some abnormal driving symptoms until the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the strategy.

2. Remove cowl top vent panel.

3. Loosen engine control sensor wiring to PCM connector retainer bolt.

4. Remove engine control sensor wiring connector from PCM.

5. Remove two PCM cover nuts.

6. Remove PCM cover.

7. Pull PCM out of bracket.

8. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten PCM cover nuts to 4.0-5.6 Nm (35-49 lb in). Tighten PCM wiring connector retainer bolt to 3.7 Nm (32 lb in).

POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE BRACKET

Powertrain Control Module Bracket:






Removal

1. Remove glove compartment.

2. Remove PCM.

3. Press black tab of PCM bracket toward center of opening and push towards vehicle interior until released from dash panel.

4. Remove PCM bracket from inside vehicle.

Installation

1. Snap PCM bracket into place from inside vehicle.

2. Install PCM.

3. Install glove compartment.
