Center Hood Latch Bracket Crash Sensor and Bracket
WARNING: the electrical circuit necessary for system deployment is powered directly from the battery. to avoid accidental deployment and possible personal injury, the positive battery cable must be disconnected prior to servicing or replacing any system components.REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect battery positive cable. Wait one minute for backup power supply energy to be depleted.
3. Remove front bumper cover.
4. Disconnect center primary crash sensor electrical connector and wiring retainer and disconnect grille opening reinforcement.
5. Remove locator from inside bumper.
6. Remove two retaining screws and center primary crash sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. Position center air bag sensor and bracket and wire lead in vehicle and secure center air bag sensor and bracket to center hood latch bracket with four screws. Tighten screws to 10.2-13.8 Nm (8-10 lb ft).
2. Attach locator to lower bumper.
3. Connect center primary crash sensor wire lead connector to wiring assembly connector and connect wiring retainers.
4. Install front bumper cover.
5. Reconnect positive battery cable.
6. Reconnect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles (16 km) or more to relearn the strategy.
7. Prove out air bag system.
