Alternator No-Load Test

1. Turn OFF all lamps and electrical components.
1. Connect tachometer to engine.
2. Start engine and increase engine speed to approximately 1500 RPM. Verify that there is no other electrical load (foot off brake pedal and doors closed).
3. Voltmeter reading should increase to approximately 12-14 volts.
4. If voltage is to specifications, perform "Load Test." If voltage is not within specifications, perform "Over Voltage Test."
