Oxygen Sensor: Service and Repair

Heated Oxygen Sensor:

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect battery negative cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

2. Raise vehicle.
3. Disconnect negative battery cable.
4. Disconnect electrical connector.
5. Remove the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) from the exhaust pipe using Oxygen Sensor Wrench T94P-9472-A.
6. To install, follow removal procedures in reverse order. Tighten sensor to 36-46 Nm (27-34 lb ft).
