Oil Temperature Sensor For ECM: Service and Repair

Engine Oil Temperature (EOT) Sensor

Removal

1. Disconnect negative cable at both batteries.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly.
3. Disengage wiring connector from routing bracket located directly above high pressure pump oil reservoir.
4. Loosen clamps securing air intake duct to resonator and turbocharger air intake.
5. Remove interior engine cover.
6. Remove turbocharger heat shield.
7. Remove resonator support bracket attaching nut.
8. Separate duct from resonator and turbocharger.
9. Remove resonator through passenger compartment and duct through hood opening.
10. Remove wiring harness routing clamp attaching nut located on high-pressure pump oil reservoir. Position wiring harness aside.

11. Prior to removal of the engine oil temperature sensor, the oil in the high-pressure pump reservoir should be removed to avoid spilling. This can be accomplished with a suction gun or Rotunda Vacuum Tester 014-R1054 or equivalent. Insert the tube into the port on the top right (viewed from the front of the engine) of the reservoir and remove the oil.
12. Disconnect wiring at engine oil temperature sensor and remove sensor.

Installation

1. Follow removal procedures in reverse order.
