Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview
1. Verify customer concern by operating the anti-theft alarm system.2. Visually inspect the following components of the anti-theft alarm system:
VISUAL INSPECTION CHART
3. Verify the following systems are operating correctly:
^ Horn
^ Headlamps
^ Hazards
^ Interior lighting
^ Power door locks
^ Remote entry (if equipped)
If any systems are not functioning properly, refer to the appropriate section for diagnosis before proceeding.
4. Check wiring harness for obvious signs of looseness, corrosion, or damage.
NOTE: The following diagnostic test quickly provides the capability to identify a shorted to ground condition for the door lock cylinder switch, hood switch or the associated circuits.
5. Perform the anti-theft diagnostic test as follows:
a. Turn key to run.
b. Activate power door unlock five times in 10 seconds.
c. Count the number of flashes of the anti-theft warning indicator lamp (repeats every 10 seconds). See table for results and action to take.
Diagnostic mode will automatically cancel alter two minutes or by turning ignition switch from RUN to OFF.
