LEAKS - WATER LEAK IN INSTRUMENT PANEL AT A-PILLAR

LIGHT TRUCK:
1995-96 ECONOLINE

ISSUE:
Some vehicles may leak water in the instrument panel at the A-pillar. This may be due to air bubbles and/or gaps in the drip rail sealer causing water to enter the vehicle through the A-pillar.

ACTION:
Fill the holes in the drip rail sealing material to prevent water from entering the vehicle at the A-pillar. Refer to the following text for service details.

Water may enter the vehicle from an air hole, accumulate in the drip rail and when the vehicle is stopped, the water will rush forward and run out near the windshield/A-pillar area. Inspect the vehicle for skips and/or air holes in the drip rail sealer before any repairs are made (Figure 1). Replacing the windshield will not correct the water leak. Use soft sealer (Ford Specification ESB-M4G250-A) to fill any air holes and/or gaps by pressing sealer into the drip rail with your hands. The sealer is obtained directly from Auto Chemical Company, 313-892-1100, by contacting Hope Miller.
