Econoline Air Conditioning Refrigerant Oil

Affected Vehicles
1996-Model Econoline trucks equipped with auxiliary A/C or RV Prep A/C built at the Lorain Assembly Plant from September 1 through September 8,1995.





Parts Required

Service To Be Provided

1. Check OASIS for vehicle eligibility.

2. Open hood.

3. Connect Rotunda R-134a A/C Service Center 176-00001 or Rotunda R-134a A/C Service Center 023-00150 and reclaim refrigerant following the manufacturer's instructions.

4. Start vacuum pump to put system under evacuation once all refrigerant has been recovered.

5. While the system is being evacuated, add 6 ounces PAG refrigerant oil (Motorcraft PN YN12A or B, Service PN F2AZ-19577-AB or AC) following R-134a A/C Service Center manufacturer's instructions for adding oil.

6. After the oil has been added, evacuate the system for 45 minutes.

7. After the system is evacuated, charge with R-134a refrigerant (Motorcraft PN YN16) as follows:

^ For RV Prep Package Vehicles, Kit Code AA, use 3.25 lbs. (52 ounces) of refrigerant.

^ For Auxiliary A/C Vehicles, Kit Code BB, use 4 lbs. (64 ounces) of refrigerant.

^ If an aftermarket A/C system has been installed with the RV Prep Package, refer to the label provided by the RV conversion company or the 2nd tier aftermarket manufacturer.

8. Obtain, prepare and attach an Authorized Modification label (available as part number FCS-8262 on DOES II). Write on the label "6 oz. of Oil Added", "Owner Notification Program 95B76", your "P & A Code" and the date of the service. Attach the label to the top of the evaporator and blower motor housing.
