Removal and Replacement

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect battery negative cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

2. Remove engine oil fill tube support bracket attaching screw and rotate tube aside.
3. Loosen engine control sensor wiring to Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector retainer bolt and connector cover.
4. Remove engine control sensor wiring connector from PCM.
5. Remove the two PCM seal nuts and slide PCM and seal forward to remove.
6. To install, follow removal procedures in reverse order. Tighten PCM retainer screw to 2.7-3.7 Nm (24-33 lb in). Tighten engine control sensor wiring connector retainer bolt to 3.7 Nm (33 lb in).
