Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Remove the two exhaust manifold to Three Way Catalytic (TWC) converter nuts.
2. Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.
3. Remove the converter bracket bolt.
4. Remove the converter to muffler inlet pipe and resonator nuts and bolts.
5. Remove the exhaust converter outlet gasket and discard it.
6. Remove the converter.

INSTALLATION
1. Inspect the TWC and replace if necessary.
2. Position the TWC and install a new gasket between the TWC and the muffler inlet pipe and resonator.
3. Install the two bolts and nuts. Tighten to 40-55 Nm (30-41 ft lb).
4. Install the converter bracket bolt and tighten to 20-28 Nm (14-21 ft lb).
5. Connect the HO2S electrical connector.
6. Install the two exhaust manifold to converter nuts and tighten to 34-47 Nm (25-35 ft lb).
