Spark Plug: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

NOTE: If an original equipment spark plug is removed for examination, the same spark plug must be reinstalled in the same cylinder. Cylinders No. 1 and No. 3 will use sparks plugs with a EG suffix. Cylinders No. 2 and No. 4 will use spark plugs with a E suffix. If a spark plug must be replaced, only use spark plugs with the service part number suffix letter EE as shown on the engine decal.

1. Disconnect the ignition spark plug wires.
2. Use a suitable spark plug socket to loosen the spark plugs.
3. Use compressed air to remove any particles around the spark plugs to prevent material from entering the cylinders.
4. Remove the spark plugs.

INSTALLATION
1. Clean the area around the spark plug threads. Install the spark plugs by hand.
2. Tighten the spark plugs to 9-20 Nm (7-15 lb ft).
3. Install the ignition spark plug wires.
