Remote Control Alarm and Lock System

The Remote Alarm and Lock system combines the functions of the Electronic Door Lock Control system and the Vehicle Anti-Theft system into a single module called the receiver assembly. In the New Generation Star (NGS) Tester, the system and module are called RAP which stands for Remote Anti-Theft Personality.

As a remote entry receiver assembly, the module performs the following functions:

Remote Entry (Key Fob)

- Unlock driver's door
- Unlock all doors and liftgate (40010)
- Lock all doors and liftgate
- Panic alarm
- Issue interior lamps ON (when unlocking) and OFF commands (when locking) to the Generic Electronic Module (GEM)
- Issue PERSONALITY commands to Memory Seat and Memory Mirror Modules when UNLOCK is pressed on a key fob (Explorer only)
- Horn chirp verify when fob LOCK pressed twice
- Double horn chirp notify when door left open
- Deactivate a triggered perimeter alarm
- Arm/Disarm Anti-Theft system
- Allow up to four transmitters to be programmed

Autolock/Relock (Explorer Automatics Only)

- Lock all doors
- Enabled/Disabled through keypad entries or ignition and door lock sequence

Keyless Entry (Keypad on Explorer Only)

- Unlock driver's door
- Unlock all doors and liftgate
- Lock all doors and liftgate
- Light Keypad Lamp
- Deactivate a triggered perimeter alarm
- Arm/Disarm Anti-Theft system
- Allow one user code to be programmed
- Issue interior lamps ON (when unlocking) and OFF commands (when locking) to the Generic Electronic Module (GEM)
- As an anti-theft receiver assembly the module performs these functions:

Anti-Theft

- Perimeter sensing doors, trunk, hood
- Ignition tamper sensing
- Starter interrupt
- LED flashing when system is armed
- Perimeter Alarm
- Worldwide Alarm Configurations

Inputs and Outputs

The receiver assembly processes inputs from the following:
- (2) Remote Entry Transmitters (key fobs)
- Keyless Entry Keypad
- Door disarm switches (left, right and liftgate key cylinders)
- Ignition tamper sensor
- Hood switch
- Door ajar output from GEM module
- Door lock switches (left, right and liftgate)
- Door unlock switches (left, right and liftgate)
- Stoplight switch (13480)
- Backup lamp housing (15502)

The system distributes output to the following:
- Driver door unlock relay
- All door unlock relay
- Lock all door relay
- Horn relay
- Headlamp relay
- Anti-theft (starter interrupt) relay
- Illuminated Entry request output to GEM module
- Memory 1 and 2 outputs to Memory Seat module
- Keypad lamp
- THEFT LED (not lamp) in Instrument Cluster
