Cleaning and Inspection

Spark Plug Style and Suffix Letters
Three unique styles of platinum-enhanced spark plugs are produced. Each style is distinguished by the part number suffix letters. The suffix letter E indicates the center electrode is enhanced with platinum. The suffix letters EG indicate the ground (side) electrode is enhanced with platinum. The suffix letters EE indicate double platinum enhancement on both the ground (side) and the center electrode.

When The Same Spark Plugs are Cleaned and Reused
If any of the spark plugs need to be removed for examination, each spark plug removed must be reinstalled in the same cylinder.

Clean spark plugs as necessary using a wire brush or professional spark plug cleaner (follow manufacturer's instructions). Inspect the firing tip. Replace spark plugs if they are worn or damaged.

- Cylinders No.1, No.2, No.3 and No.4 have an EG suffix.
- Cylinders No.5, No.6, No.7 and No.8 have an E suffix.

When New Spark Plugs Required
If any spark plug needs to be replaced, use only spark plugs with the service part number suffix letters EE as shown on the engine decal.
