Removal and Installation

REMOVAL
1. Refer to Fuel Pressure Release/Service and Repair before removal of fuel system components.
2. Remove upper intake manifold and fuel injection supply manifold.

3. Carefully remove electrical harness connectors from individual fuel injectors as required.

NOTE: Fuel injectors will stay in fuel injection supply manifold when manifold is removed.

4. Remove four fuel injection supply manifold bolts and fuel injection supply manifold.

5. Grasping fuel injector body, pull up while gently rocking fuel injector from side to side.

CAUTION: Do not attempt to clean the injector metering orifices with brushes. Deposit resistant injectors do not need to be cleaned.

6. Inspect fuel injector O-rings (two per injector) for signs of deterioration. Replace as required.

INSTALLATION

CAUTION: Never use silicone grease. It will clog the fuel injectors.

1. Lubricate new O-rings with light grade oil XO-10W30-QSP or equivalent oil meeting Ford specification ESE-M2C153-E and install two on each fuel injector.
2. Install fuel injectors using a light, twisting, pushing motion.
3. Install fuel injection supply manifold and four fuel injection supply manifold bolts. Tighten the fuel injection supply manifold bolts to 8-12 N.m (71-106 lb in).
4. Install electrical connectors to fuel injectors.
5. Install upper intake manifold and Refer to Fuel Pressure Test to restore fuel pressure.
