Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair
Throttle Position Sensor:
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.
2. Disconnect Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) from wiring harness.
3. If reusing TPS, scribe alignment marks to position when reinstalling.
4. Remove two retaining screws.
5. Remove sensor.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the TPS so that the pigtail points toward the throttle body inlet.
2. Secure sensor to throttle body with two retaining screws. Tighten to 2-3 Nm (18-27 lb in).
3. Connect electrical connector to harness.
4. Reconnect battery negative cable.
