Disassembly and Assembly
DISASSEMBLY1. Remove caliper assembly from vehicle.
2. Drain any remaining brake fluid from caliper.
3. Position fiber block and shop towels between caliper pistons and caliper housing, then apply compressed air to caliper brake line fitting bore to force pistons from caliper.
4. Remove dust boots from caliper assembly.
5. Remove piston seals from cylinder and discard.
INSPECTION
1. Inspect pistons for scratches, scoring or damage. Replace if necessary.
2. Inspect caliper bores for scratches, scoring or corrosion. Light scratches or slight corrosion can be polished out using crocus cloth.
3. Ensure bleeder screw and bleeder screw bore hole in caliper are fully open.
ASSEMBLY
1. Lubricate piston seals with clean brake fluid, then install seals in caliper bore. Ensure seals are firmly seated in groove.
2. Install new dust boots in outer groove of caliper bore.
3. Coat pistons with clean brake fluid and install pistons in caliper bore.
4. Spread dust boots over piston as they are installed, then seat dust boots in piston groove.
5. Install caliper assembly.
