Spark Plug: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the distributor to spark plug wires from the spark plug.
3. Use compressed air to blow away any dirt from around the spark plug to prevent it from entering through the spark plug hole.
4. Remove the spark plug.
5. Refer to the Spark Plug Inspection Chart to determine the condition of the spark plugs.

INSTALLATION

Gapping Spark Plug:





1. Gap the spark plug to 1.0-1.1 mm (0.040-0.043 inch).
2. Install the spark plug into the cylinder head. Tighten the spark plug to 20-30 Nm (15-22 lb ft).
3. Install the distributor to spark plug wires to the proper spark plug.
4. Connect the battery ground cable.
