E: Confirm Normal Keypad Operation

E: KEYPAD ENTRY INOPERATIVE

E1 CONFIRM NORMAL KEYPAD OPERATION
- Unlock driver's door with keypad code (Explorer only) .
- Confirm that keypad lights and that interior lights come on with first button press.
- Press 3/4 button within five seconds of unlocking doors with keypad code.
- Press 7/8 and 9/10 button to lock all doors, turn off keypad lamp and turn off interior lights.
Do all functions occur as expected?
Yes
Keypad functions appear OK. CLARIFY with owner and REVIEW owner symptoms table.
No
If the keypad code did not work (or has been lost), GO to E2. If the doors do unlock, but the keypad doesn't light with any button press, GO to E4. If interior lights do not illuminate, but keypad does light when keypad buttons are pressed, GO to Pinpoint Test C. If it appears that a certain keypad button is not working, GO to E3.

E2 CHECK KEYPAD CODE
- Enter in NGS: receiver assembly, PID/DATA. Select KEYCODE.
Does KEYCODE match keycode that owner has been trying to use as factory code (factory code should be printed on wallet code card originally inserted in owner manual packet)?
Yes
GO to E3
No
EREPEAT E1 to confirm operation, and INFORM owner of correct keycode.

3 CHECK EACH KEYPAD BUTTON
- Enter in NGS: RAP, PID/DATA. Select KEY PAD.
- Confirm that numbers do not display when keypad buttons are not pressed.
- Press each five keypad buttons separately. (Note that keypad number 1 and 2 are associated with same button and switch but appear on the display as 1 , the 3/4 appear as -3, and so on.)
- Confirm that display shows only keypad switch being pressed.
Do all keypad buttons change state independent of each other?
Yes
CALL phone number on receiver assembly for additional assistance.
No
If a keypad number remains displayed when no buttons are pressed, CHECK the keypad for a button short, or SERVICE the keypad button circuit for a short to ground. If a keypad number does not display when it is pressed, CHECK the keypad for a button open, or SERVICE the keypad button or keypad common circuit for an open. If more than one keypad number shows on display when only one button is pressed, CHECK the keypad for a short between buttons, or SERVICE the keypad button circuits forircuits for a short.


E4 CHECK KEYPAD LAMP
- Enter in NGS: RAP, ACTIVE COMMANDS, select KEYPAD BACK LIGHTING and turn it ON.
Does keypad lamp turn on?
Yes
GO to E3
No
GO to E5



E5 MANUAL KEYPAD LAMP ACTIVATION
- Disconnect receiver assembly.
- Momentarily short Keypad Illumination Circuit 66 (LB) to Battery Circuit 645 (W/LB).
Does keypad lamp turn on?
Yes
CALL phone number on receiver assembly for additional assistance.
No
GO to E6

E6 CHECK KEYPAD LAMP AND KEYPAD LAMP WIRING
- Disconnect keypad pigtail from harness.
- Momentarily short Keypad Illumination Circuit 66 (LB) to Battery and Ground Circuit 57 (BK) to Ground on keypad pigtail connected to keypad.
Does keypad lamp turn on?
Yes
SERVICE harness Keypad Illumination Circuit 66 (LG) or Ground for Keypad Illuminationination circuit 57 (BK)
No
REPLACE keyless entry keypad due to probable internal short.
