NOTE: When the battery ground cable has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

- Turn ignition OFF.

- Reconnect battery ground cable.

- Verify all connectors are installed.

- Locate and disconnect the diagnostic connector from its mating half (Circuits 571 [BK/O] and 481 [R]).

- Turn ignition ON.

- Begin diagnostic trouble code flashout by connecting Circuit 571 (BK/O) to a chassis ground for at least 1 second.

- Observe and count code.

- Is DTC 16 present?

YES -- Go to drive test code 16Drive Test 1 Code 16.

NO -- If Code 7, GO to 7.7. 7.7 If different code, go to pinpoint test for corresponding code.
