PID/Data Monitor and Record

The PID/Data Monitor and Record Option allows the New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent operator to read the state of several Parameter IDs (PIDs) to aid service personnel in diagnosing the system. PIDs are real time measurements of parameters such as voltages, resistances, etc., calculated by the air bag diagnostic monitor and sent to the New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent for display. Many of the PIDs supported by the air bag diagnostic monitor are calculated periodically and are therefore not true real time readings. The following is a table of supported PIDs and their update frequencies.

To retrieve PIDs, follow these steps:
1. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent to data link connector (DLC).
2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position.
3. Select the MODEL YEAR and VEHICLE.
4. Select DIAGNOSTIC DATA LINK.
5. Select IABM-INTEGRATED AIR BAG MONITOR.
6. Select PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD.
7. Mark all PIDs which are to be retrieved and press START.
8. PIDs are continuously updated on the display.
