Center Bearing, Supercab 4X2 and 4X4











1. Unbolt the center bearing mount and spin the bearing. If bearing does not rotate freely it must be replaced.

2. Inspect the rubber insulator for evidence of hardening, cracking or deterioration before removing shaft. Replace if damaged. Refer to the 1997 Ranger Workshop Manual, Pages 05-01-14 and -15, for center bearing and rubber insulator service.

NOTE:
IF DRIVESHAFT AND COUPLING SHAFT ARE REMOVED, MAKE SURE THE YOKE IS REINSTALLED ON THE COUPLING SHAFT IN THE SAME ORIENTATION AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY INSTALLED. THE ORIENTATION IS CRITICAL SO THAT PROPER DRIVESHAFT BALANCE AND UNIVERSAL JOINT PHASING IS MAINTAINED. TORQUE THE ATTACHING NUT TO 136-163 N.m (100-120 LB-FT).
