ISSUE

The driver's and/or passenger's door glass may "chatter" when operating the window in down mode. This may be caused by a lack of lubrication on the glass guide bracket assembly.

ACTION

Replace the glass guide bracket with a new bracket. The revised bracket has a type of lubricant that reduces resistance of the two metals when rubbing against each other. This should help reduce the possibility of window chatter. Refer to the following Service Procedure for details.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Lower the window and stop at about half way down.

2. Disconnect the battery-ground cable.

3. Remove the interior door trim panel. Refer to the appropriate Ranger Service/Workshop Manual and Figure 1.

4. Drill out the two (2) door glass rivets.

5. It is not necessary to remove the door glass. Manually move the glass to the full up position and secure glass to frame with tape or clamps.

6. Remove upper and lower glass guide bracket assembly nuts and remove old glass guide bracket assembly (Figure 2).

7. Install a new Guide Bracket Assembly (F87Z-1023288-AA) by first inserting window regulator arm into window channel bracket before riveting glass. Refer to Figure 3.

8. Push the glass rearward within the front door glass bracket assembly until it bottoms out within the front door.

9. Fasten glass to bracket using two (2) Rivets (W525175-S).

10. Move the upper guide bracket assembly post rearward within the retention slot in the inner panel.

11. Tighten the two (2) glass bracket assembly nuts to 8-10 N.m (71-89 lb-in).

12. Reconnect the battery ground cable.

13. Cycle the front window up and down to check position.

14. Reinstall the front door trim panel.
