Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor:






REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Partially drain engine cooling system.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its fuel trim. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the fuel trim.

3. Disconnect fuel charging wiring from Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
4. Remove ECT sensor from heater elbow connection.
5. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten ECT sensor to 14-19 Nm (11-14 lb ft).
6. Refill engine cooling system.
