System Operation
The alarm system operating sequences are designed to be passive. Therefore, the system can be armed or disarmed when following normal vehicle entrance and exit procedures. Following is a detailed description of the system operation:SYSTEM ARMING
NOTE:
- The hood must be closed to activate the alarm system.
- Opening the doors, opening the hood or removing the ignition lock cylinder will activate the alarm.
The system will be armed when one of the following input sequences is followed:

2. Open a door. Alarm indicator lamp flashes.
3. Lock the doors with power door lock switches. Alarm indicator lamp on steady.

The system can be armed by the keyless entry remote transmitter or keyless entry keypad by following this input sequence:
1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position.
2. Close both front doors. Alarm indicator lamp is off.
3. Press the LOCK button on the keyless entry remote transmitter or simultaneously press buttons 7/8 and 9/0 on the keyless entry keypad to lock doors.

SYSTEM TRIGGERING
NOTE: Within three minutes after the system has been triggered, the horns and exterior lamps will shut off automatically. The system will then reset to an armed state and will trigger again if another intrusion occurs. However, the vehicle's starter circuit will remain disabled until the system is disarmed.
The alarm system will be activated if any of the following actions occur after the system has been armed:
- Opening any door without first unlocking with door key or unlock button of keyless entry keypad unlock code.
- Opening hood.
NOTE: Removing the ignition switch lock cylinder from the steering column tube will trigger the alarm system whether the system is armed or not.
