Hood Sensor/Switch (For Alarm): Service and Repair

REMOVAL

NOTE: The hood switch is part of the windshield wiper motor wiring and must be replaced as an assembly.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove the cap on the LH and RH windshield wiper pivot arms to expose the nuts the retain arms to pivot shaft.
3. Remove two nuts, one from each of the windshield wiper pivot arms. Lift the windshield wiper pivot arms to service position, carefully rocking them back and forth to loosen them from pivot shaft. Remove arms.
4. Remove four rivets and seven screws retaining cowl vent screen.
5. Remove hood cowl seal.
6. Carefully rotate the cowl top vent panel to access the windshield wiper motor wiring connector.
7. Disconnect the windshield wiper motor wiring harness connectors (at the windshield wiper motor and harness) and wiring harness retainer.
8. Remove bolt from hood switch bracket.
9. Remove hood switch and bracket (part of windshield wiper motor) windshield wiper motor wiring as an assembly.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse Removal procedure.
