Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

1. Inspect the components of the power rear view mirror system to determine if any of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
- Damaged mirrors
- Damaged outside rear view mirror control.

Electrical
- Blown fuse:
Fuse junction panel: Fuse 1 (10A), 14 (5A), 21 (10A), 30 (25A) and 38 (15A) Power Distribution Box Fuse M (60A)
- Damage to wiring harness.
- Loose or corroded connections.

2. Flex the harness and connectors at the outside rear view mirror control and outside rear view mirror. Look for obvious signs of opens or shorts.
3. Operate the outside rear view mirror control and determine its condition.
4. If inspection reveals obvious concerns that can be readily identified, service as required.
5. If the concerns remain after the inspection determine the symptoms and go to the Symptom Chart. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
