Removal and Replacement
Powertrain Control Module:
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its fuel trim. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the fuel trim.
2. Remove cowl top vent panel.
3. Loosen engine control sensor wiring to PCM connector retaining bolt.
4. Remove engine control sensor wiring connector from PCM.
5. Remove two PCM cover nuts.
6. Remove PCM cover.
7. Pull PCM out of PCM bracket.
8. To install, reverse Removal procedure. Tighten PCM cover nuts to 4-5.6 Nm (35-49 lb in). Tighten PCM wiring connector retaining bolt to 3.7 Nm (32 lb in).
