Power Seat Switch: Testing and Inspection






Test seat regulator control switch with a self-powered test lamp or ohmmeter such as Rotunda 73 Digital Multimeter 105-R0051 or equivalent when the seat regulator control switch is disconnected from the wiring.
1. With all seat regulator control switch knobs in the NEUTRAL position, there should be continuity between Pins 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8. Pin 3 should be disconnected from all others.
2. With switch in front seat down position, there should be continuity between Pins 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7 and Pins 3 and 6.
3. With switch in front seat up position, there should be continuity between Pins 1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 and Pins 3 and 8.
4. With switch in whole seat down position, there should be continuity between Pins 3, 4 and 6 and Pins 1, 2, 5, 7 and 8.
5. With switch in whole seat up position, there should be continuity between Pins 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 and Pins 3, 7 and 8.
6. With switch in seat rearward position, there should be continuity between Pins 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 and Pins 2 and 3.
7. With switch in seat forward position, there should be continuity between Pins 1, 2, 4, 6, 7 and 8 and Pins 3 and 5.
8. With switch in rear seat down position, there should be continuity between Pins 3 and 4 and Pins 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 and 8.
9. With switch in rear seat up position, there should be continuity between Pins 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 and 8 and Pins 3 and 7.
10. If any part of the seat regulator control switch fails to test as outlined, replace the entire seat regulator control switch assembly.
