The fuel level sensor is combined with the fuel pump assembly to form the fuel pump module. The fuel level sensor consists of a variable resistor controlled by the level of an attached float in the fuel tank.
- When the fuel is low, resistance in the fuel level sensor is low and the number of lit bars of the fuel gauge is minimal (from EMPTY position).
- When the fuel level is high, the resistance in the fuel level sensor is high and the number of lit bars of the fuel gauge is greater.
