Flow of Diagnosis

1. Verify the customer's concern by operating the power windows to duplicate the condition.
2. Inspect to determine if one of the following mechanical or electrical concerns apply:

VISUAL INSPECTION CHART

Mechanical
- Window alignment
- Window mounting (regulator and bracket)
- Window frame interference

Electrical
- Blown fuse:
+ fuse junction panel 34 (30A), 29 (15A)
+ power distribution box Fuse J (60A)
- Damage to wiring harness
- Loose or corroded connections
- Damaged switches

3. If inspection reveals an obvious concern that is readily serviced, correct the concern before continuing with Inspection and Verification.
4. If a concern remains after the inspection, use Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent, connected to the Data Link Connector (DLC) to retrieve diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and to execute self test diagnostics for the generic electronic module as outlined.
5. If self test is passed and no diagnostic trouble codes are retrieved, GO to the Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics. Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures
6. If diagnostic trouble codes are retrieved, GO to the Generic Electronic Module (GEM) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index to continue diagnostics. GEM Diagnostic Trouble Code Index
7. If the generic electronic module cannot be accessed by the New Generation Star (NGS) Tester, GO to Pinpoint Test A. A: No Communication With Generic Electronic Module
