Power Window Motor: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove front door trim panel and front door inside panel sound insulator. Doors
3. Disconnect front window regulator wiring connector.
4. Using a 1/2-Inch diameter drill bit, drill two holes in door inner panel at the drill dimples located opposite the two unexposed window regulator electric drive retaining screws.
NOTE: Check inside door to make sure front window regulator wiring is not in line with holes to be drilled in door inner panel.
5. Remove three window regulator electric drive retaining screws, using two drilled holes and existing larger hole access to screw heads.
6. Push window regulator electric drive toward outside sheet metal to disengage window regulator electric drive from regulator gear.
7. With window regulator electric drive and regulator gear disengaged, prop the front door window glass in full-up position.
WARNING: THE WINDOW REGULATOR ELECTRIC DRIVE HAS A COUNTERBALANCED SPRING. WINDOW MUST BE IN UP POSITION TO REMOVE POWER MOTOR OR BLOCKED TO PREVENT WINDOW FROM SUDDENLY RAISING, CAUSING POSSIBLE INJURY.
8. Remove window regulator electric drive from door.
INSTALLATION
1. Install a new window regulator electric drive. Tighten retaining screws to 6-10 Nm (54-88 Lb-In).
2. Install two pieces of Pressure Sensitive Waterproof Tape D6AZ-19627-A or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESB-M3G58-A body tape 25.4 mm (1 Inch) square over drilled holes.
3. Connect front window regulator wiring.
4. Connect battery ground cable.
5. Remove front door window glass prop. Check front door window glass operation.
6. Make sure drain holes are open.
7. Install front door trim panel and front door inside panel sound insulator.
