Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

2. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from mass air flow sensor.
3. Loosen engine air cleaner tube clamps on air cleaner outlet tube and throttle body inlet tube. Disconnect tubes from mass air flow sensor.
4. Remove mass air flow sensor to bracket retaining bolts and remove mass air flow sensor bracket.

INSTALLATION
1. Follow removal procedure in reverse order.
2. Tighten mass air flow sensor retaining bolts to 4.7-5.0 Nm (42-44 lb in).
3. Tighten engine air cleaner tube clamps to 1.4-2.5 Nm (13-22 lb in).
