End Play

CAUTION: Prying against the camshaft sprocket (6256) with the valve train load on the camshaft can break or damage the camshaft sprocket.

1. Remove valve covers (6582).
2. Using Dial Indicator with Bracketry TOOL-4201-C or equivalent, measure end play while moving camshaft back and forth. If the end play is greater than specification, replace camshaft and/or cylinder head.
Standard: 0.025-0.188 mm (0.00098-0.007402 inch.
Limit: 0.190 mm (0.007480 inch).
3. Remove dial indicator.
4. Install valve covers. Follow proper procedure and tighten bolts to specification in sequence.
