Field Adjustment - Tight System
1. Make sure the rear brake are cold for correct tensioning/adjustment.2. Depress the parking brake pedal fully to the last detent position (E-150 has 13 positions; E-250/350 has 17 positions).
NOTE
THE PARKING BRAKE MUST BE FULLY APPLIED FOR THIS PROCEDURE.
NOTE
IF YOU CANNOT REACH THE FULLY APPLIED POSITION, LOOSEN THE TENSION LIMITER NUT TO THE END OF THE THREADED ROD, WITHOUT REMOVING THE NUT FROM THE THREADED ROD.
NOTE
DEPRESS THE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TO THE LAST DETENT POSITION (E-150 HAS 13 POSITIONS; E-250/350 HAS 17 POSITIONS).
NOTE
USING VISE GRIPS OR EQUIVALENT, GRIP THE TENSION LIMITER HOUSING TO PREVENT IT FROM SPINNING AND TIGHTEN THE EQUALIZER NUT. TIGHTEN THE TENSION LIMITER NUT TO 7.6-8.3 cm (3.00-3.25") FROM THE END OF THE TENSION LIMITER THREADS. MEASURE FROM THE END OF THE TENSION LIMITER THREADS TO THE BEGINNING OF THE HEX PORTION OF THE TENSION LIMITER NUT. CHECK TO MAKE SURE THE CINCH STRAP HAS SLIPPED.
3. Release the parking brake pedal.
4. Reapply the parking/brake pedal to the floor (fully applied position) and release the parking brake pedal. Repeat 2 times.
5. Check for brake drag on the rear wheels. There should be no drag.
