Inspection and Verification

INSPECTION

1. Verify the concern by removing the fuel tank filler cap to duplicate the condition.
2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical damage.
3. Listen for:
- A hissing sound or release of pressure as the fuel tank filler cap is removed from the fuel tank filler pipe.
4. If the fault is not visually evident, determine the symptom and proceed to the symptom chart.
