Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Description and Operation
PURPOSE The Transmission Range
(TR) sensor produces a specific voltage for each transmission shift lever position.
OPERATION The Powertrain Control Module
(PCM) monitors TR sensor inputs to determine the position of the manual lever and as a result determines the desired gear.
CONSTRUCTION The TR sensor is a ratiometric sensor with six discreet resistors in series.
