Throttle Position (TP) Sensor

DESCRIPTION
- The Throttle Position (TP) sensor is a potentiometer that sends throttle position information to the powertrain control module.
- The TP sensor is mounted on the throttle body.
- The TP sensor varies reference voltage that it receives as the throttle plate is moved.
- The PCM monitors this variation to determine the position of the throttle plate.
- The PCM uses this signal to help determine shift scheduling, Torque Convertor Clutch (TCC) operation and Electronic Pressure Control (EPC).

SYMPTOMS:
- High EPC pressure resulting in harsh engagements and/or harsh shifts.
- Incorrect shift schedule.
- No TCC engagement or abnormal TCC cycling.
