1. Inspect the bearings for the following defects. Possible causes are shown:
^ Cratering-fatigue failure (A).
^ Spot polishing-improper seating (B).
^ Scratching-dirty (C).
^ Base exposed-poor lubrication (D).
^ Both edges worn-journal damaged (E).
^ One edge worn-journal tapered or bearing not seated (F).
