Installation

1. Clean and inspect all surfaces.





2. Install Engine Lift Brackets.
a. Install the two stud bolts.

NOTE: LH front Engine Lift Bracket and RH rear Engine Lift Bracket are installed using the same procedure. Lift brackets should be installed on exhaust stud bolts for cylinders number one and number eight.

b. Install a 7.5 mm spacer.
c. Install Engine Lift Bracket.
d. Install the engine lift bracket nut.

3. Install Engine Spreader Bar on Engine Lift Brackets.





4. Install a suitable engine lifting sling to Spreader Bar and position around crankshaft vibration damper to support the front of the engine, and install the engine into the vehicle.





5. Install the two RH engine mount nuts.





6. Install the two LH engine mount nuts.
7. Install the exhaust manifolds.
8. Install the lower radiator hose.





9. Install the oil bypass filter.
10. Connect the low oil level sensor electrical connector.





11. Connect the transmission bulk head connector.





12. Connect the RH heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.





13. Connect the LH heated oxygen sensor electrical connector.
14. Install the transmission inspection cover, torque converter bolts, and transmission to engine block bolts.
15. Install the starter.





16. Connect the transmission cooler lines to the retainer by the RH engine mount.





17. Install the battery to starter relay cable to the retainer on the engine front cover.





18. Connect the ground cable to the front engine cover.





19. Connect the ground strap to the rear of the lower intake manifold.
20. Raise and support the vehicle.
21. Install the transmission fill tube.





22. Install the two heater core hoses.





23. Connect the engine bulk head connector.





24. Connect the powertrain control module (PCM) bulk head connector and the body ground connector.





25. Install the accelerator cable bracket.
a. Position the accelerator cable bracket.
b. Install the bolt.





26. Install the accelerator cable bracket nut.





27. Install the accelerator cable bracket nut.





28. Connect the accelerator cable to the throttle linkage.





29. Position the accelerator and cruise control cables into the retaining clip.





30. Connect the LH side vacuum connections.





31. Connect the RH side vacuum connections.
32. Install the lower steering column shaft.





33. Install the lower steering column shaft bolt.





34. Connect the emissions vapor management hose.
35. Connect the fuel lines on the RH inner fender.





36. Connect the wide-open A/C cutoff (WAC) electrical connector.





37. Install the generator.
a. Position the generator.
b. Install the three bolts.





38. Install the air conditioning line bracket nut on the generator stud.





39. Connect the two generator electrical connectors.
40. Install the ignition coils and bracket and the spark plug wires.





41. Install the air conditioning compressor and tighten the four air conditioning compressor bolts.





42. Position the air conditioning compressor spark plug wire bracket and install the retaining nut.





43. Connect the air conditioning compressor electrical connector.





44. Position the power steering pump and rotate the power steering pump pulley to access the power steering bolt holes.





45. Install the power steering rear bolt.





46. Install the power steering reservoir and the three power steering reservoir bolts.





47. Position the accessory drive belt.





48. Turn the tensioner and finish installing the accessory drive belt.
a. Rotate the tensioner clockwise.
b. Position the belt.





49. Connect the upper radiator hose.
50. Install the fan blade assembly and the fan shroud.
51. Install the battery.
52. Install the air conditioning condenser.





53. On early models, install the air cleaner outlet tube.
a. Position the air cleaner outlet tube and tighten the clamps.
b. Connect the IAT sensor electrial connector.





54. On late models, install the air cleaner outlet tube.
a. Position the air cleaner outlet tube and tighten the clamps.
b. Connect the IAT sensor electrical connector.





55. Fill the engine crankcase with SW30 motor oil meeting specification ESE-M2C153-E. The oil level should read between the min and max lines on the oil level indicator.
56. Fill the cooling system.
57. Recharge the air conditioning system.
58. Install the hood.
