Compressor Fitting HVAC: Service and Repair

REMOVAL




1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant. Refrigerant Recovery




3. Disconnect the A/C pressure cut-off switch.




4. Disconnect the A/C manifold and tube from the A/C condenser core.




5. Use Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool (3/4 in) to disconnect the A/C manifold and tube from the suction accumulator/drier.




6. Remove the A/C manifold to A/C compressor bolt.




7. Remove the A/C manifold to generator clamp nut.
8. Lift the A/C manifold and tube out of the vehicle.

INSTALLATION













1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

NOTE:
- Lubricate new O-ring seals with PAG Compressor Oil F2AZ-19577-AC, Motorcraft YN-12b meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B.
- When installing the manifold to compressor bolt, apply Pipe Sealant With Teflon (R) D8AZ-19554-A or equivalent meeting Ford specifications WSK-M2G350-A2 and ESR-M18P7-A to the threads of the bolt.
- When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the vehicle relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16km (10 mi) or more to relearn the strategy.

2. Evacuate, charge and leak test the system. Service and Repair
3. Test the system for proper operation.
