Electronic Climate Control
Digital Display WindowThe digital display window is a Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD) for indicating set temperature, ambient temperature, functional selection and diagnostic codes.
AUTOMATIC
The AUTOMATIC position turns the system on for fully automatic operation. The system maintains the selected temperature by controlling the airflow direction (function setting), the airflow quantity (fan speed) and the discharge temperature required for comfort. "AUTOMATIC" will show in the display window.
OFF
The OFF position turns the system off completely.
Warmer (Red) Button
The red position raises the temperature setting. Pressing the button once raises the temperature one degree. Pressing the button continuously raises the temperature in one degree increments to 29°C (85°F) and then jumps to 32°C (90°F) in one step for continuous maximum heating.
Cooler (Blue) Button
The blue position lowers the temperature setting. Pressing the button once lowers the temperature one degree. Pressing the button continuously lowers the temperature in one degree increments to 18°C (65°F) and then jumps to 15°C (60°F) in one step for continuous maximum cooling.
REAR FAN OFF
The REAR FAN OFF position stops operation of the rear blower assembly. "REAR FAN OFF" will show in the display window. The button must be pressed a second time to resume rear blower operation.
MAX A/C
The manual override MAX A/C position puts the system into a high blower motor operation with a maximum cool discharge temperature while going into the recirculation function. "60 MAX A/C" will show in the display window.
VENT
The manual override VENT position causes the system to operate with outside air. "VENT" will show in the display window. The A/C clutch will be off.
PNL & FLR
The PNL & FLR position causes the air to be discharged equally between the panel and the floor. "PNL FLR" will show in the display window. The A/C clutch will be on.
FLOOR
The FLOOR position causes the majority of air distribution to be directed through the heater outlet floor ducts with bleed to the A/C side window demisters and the windshield defroster hose nozzle. "FLR" will show in the display window. The A/C clutch will be off.
FLR & DEF
The FLR & DEF position causes air to be distributed equally between the windshield defroster hose nozzle and the heater outlet floor ducts with bleed to the A/C side window demisters. "FLR & Defrost Symbol" will show in the display window. The A/C clutch will be on.
DEF
The DEF position directs the majority of the airflow through the windshield defroster hose nozzle with bleed to the A/C side window demisters and the heater outlet floor ducts. The "Defrost Symbol" will show in the display window. The A/C clutch will be on.
Pulse Width Modulator
The pulse width modulator works with the dimmer control on the headlamp switch to control the instrument panel and A/C control illumination intensity.
